501 FUN, a global leader in providing engaging and innovative social entertainment systems, will showcase a new product, Virtual Archery, at IAAPA Expo Europe, taking place in London this week.
Archery has the potential to translate well into competitive socialising, combining the physical action of drawing and firing a bow with an immediate, easy-to-understand challenge. However, much of the existing digital and simulator-based archery market is focused on individual practice and training.
501 FUN’s Virtual Archery aims to bring the sport into a more social setting, giving guests the opportunity to compete against each other in a technology-led experience. The attraction is designed around short, accessible gameplay and competitive interaction, with a focus on creating a format suited to social entertainment venues.
Players pick up a real bow, aim at a large projected screen, and shoot virtual arrows in various competitive games. Motion-detection technology and automatic scoring animate each shot instantly—no live arrows, safety training, or range officer needed.
Boost return visits and revenue
The setup is compact, providing the excitement of a real archery range without requiring extra space.
Once installed, it offers a growing library of games, including crowd favourites like High Noon, Killer, Pie in the Sky, and Robin Hood, with new titles added regularly throughout the year.
Included for free is Social Replay, which captures every bullseye or near miss as a shareable highlight reel, along with access to the 501 Hub for session management and performance analytics.
For operators, the appeal isn’t just novelty. A genuine bow is a visual highlight—guests drawing it back commands attention from anywhere in the room. The diverse game modes encourage groups to return again and again. Combine this with food and drinks, and the experience extends into a longer, higher-spend visit.
Ahead of market release, 501 FUN worked closely with an existing customer to trial Virtual Archery in-venue.
Joseph Finn, owner at Ballerz Clubhouse, fed back: "It's competitive, fast-paced, fun, engaging, and definitely something that for us at Ballerz has been a strong addition. I'd highly recommend it.”
Jonny Powell, CEO of 501 FUN, adds: "Darts and mini golf have shown just how much global appetite there is for competitive socialising, and archery is about to have that same moment.
"We've built Virtual Archery to bring the focus and drama of the sport into venues properly for the first time - a state-of-the-art experience that sits brilliantly alongside the rest of our attractions. We can't wait for IAAPA attendees to be able to try it out."
IAAPA Expo Europe 2026 attendees will be among the first worldwide to try the bow, as Virtual Archery will be live at booth #S4543 throughout the three-day show. To book a slot with the team in advance, click here.
Last summer, 501 FUN celebrated surpassing 501 million darts thrown worldwide.
