Katapult, the international guest experience design agency, has created a popular new al fresco dining attraction in Derby, UK

Katapult is pleased to announce that it has worked with the Derby Recovery Task Force on a project to support the city’s hospitality industry and boost visitor confidence. The Derby Recovery Task Force is a public/private partnership group, created to lead the city’s economic response to COVID-19.

The result is a 330-person capacity outdoor food and beverage destination in the Market Place, in the city centre. Here, guests can order food from local restaurants and have it delivered to bookable chalets or outdoor tables. The popular ‘meeting and eating’ space has already been sold out at weekends, with future dates in high demand.

Local street artists added to the experience by bringing colour and kerb appeal to the outside perimeter of the space.

Boosting consumer confidence

CEO at Derby City Council, Paul Simpson, says, “The imagination, creativity and speed in which this has been achieved is breathtaking. So proud of all those that have made this happen in our city.”

Katapult’s CEO & Co-Founder, Dawn Foote says, “As a business located in the city, we are both proud and delighted to develop an experience supporting Derby’s hospitality industry through this challenging period.”

“We are delighted to kickstart the city centre re-opening by creating this al fresco dining experience – something we know the people of Derby were crying out for. We’re looking forward to people returning to the city centre with confidence, to experience this new, COVID-secure, destination in the heart of the city. The response it has had to date is wonderful.”
