The Exploratorium museum in San Francisco is partnering with Hyundai Motor Group to build a new science centre in Seoul, South Korea.
Scheduled to open in 2032, the world-class experiential science museum will feature distinctly designed galleries offering interactive exhibits, original art and live programming.
It will anchor Hyundai Motor Group’s planned business complex in Seoul and will be supported on an ongoing basis by the company as an investment in the future of learning.

“Hyundai Motor Group is committed to addressing new challenges in advanced fields, including mobility and artificial intelligence, to contribute to humanity and future society,” said Euisun Chung, executive chair of Hyundai Motor Group.
“The experiential science museum we are creating with the Exploratorium will be a unique hub for science education, delivering experiences that nurture individual curiosity and a spirit of inquiry for a better future.”
Exploratorium's global expansion
Founded by physicist Frank Oppenheimer in 1969, the Exploratorium is an innovator in experiential science education. Its flagship museum in San Francisco is an R+D laboratory known for its hands-on exhibits and experiences.
"The Exploratorium and Hyundai Motor Group share a commitment to cultivating the human capacities that no machine or technology can replicate: curiosity, discernment, and agency," said Lindsay Bierman, director and CEO of the Exploratorium.
"What we're co-creating in Korea will drive progress for humanity by advancing science learning, literacy, and innovation across Asia and the world."
Anne Richardson, chief experience officer of the Exploratorium, said: “Through sustained partnerships with organizations such as Hyundai Motor Group, we help shape institutions that are culturally grounded, locally responsive, and designed for lasting public impact.”
The Exploratorium's partnership with Hyundai is its largest collaboration to date as it expands it portfolio across the world.
Recently completed projects include SESI Lab in Brazil, the Kiewit Luminarium in Nebraska, and two new galleries at the Scientific Center of Kuwait.
