Lagotronics Projects, the media-based attractions specialist, has revealed details of its collaboration with The Chocolate Factory (TCF) in the Netherlands.
TCF is an edutainment centre which introduces guests to food technology through a distinctive approach, which merges cutting-edge technology with an industrial setting. The attraction is the result of a unique partnership between industry and education, with support from the Dutch government. It is expected to open by the end of the year.
Multi-sensory experience
The Chocolate Factory will be housed in a building which reaches over thirty metres tall. In this impressive setting, visitors will be able to make their own chocolate creations. They will discover what it is like to be a factory operator and learn how to control the manufacturing process by using cutting-edge machines and digital devices. In this multisensory experience, guests are challenged to complete missions at various levels of the building and are rewarded with a personalised chocolate bar and sprinkles.
The attraction is a showpiece for the newest innovations in food manufacturing technology, from the development and use of state-of-the-art machinery to product quality assurance and maintenance. Its mission is to engage all of the senses and create a setting that smoothly blends education and fun.
The Chocolate Factory is situated in the Netherlands’ agrifood capital. The attraction is part of Cultuur Haven Veghel (CHV), a former animal feed factory that has been converted into a thriving centre for food, art, and entertainment. Guests will encounter a juxtaposition between the building’s industrial legacy, and the cutting-edge interactive and multimedia technology that will transport them to the world of chocolate.
Interactive & AV technologies
Lagotronics Projects is partnering with TCF to provide hardware, technical design (engineering), software, and game development services. Cutting-edge interactive and audiovisual technologies are required for the attraction’s range of challenges. Lagotronics Projects will develop the Operator Room, a VR drone operator game, video mapping projections on silos, and more.
The firm’s remit includes the design and manufacture of bespoke “drone scooters” for the VR drone operator experience. This challenge also features ceiling decorations with LED lighting and an unexpected wind effect.
Visitors to the Operator Room will have fun using 12 player consoles that include levers, touchscreens, light effects, and sound effects for monitoring the production process. Additionally, Lagotronics will manage the installation, programming, and show control for the attractions on-site.
Earlier this year, Lagotronics Projects revealed that it has partnered with Mack Rides and IMPS, the owner of the Smurfs IP, to develop the Smurfs Gameplay Theater. This pioneering interactive dark ride combines an endless ride system with innovative interactive technology, and both decorative and immersive media scenes.
