Moment Factory offers a new view on a 1,000-year-old French estate with its latest enchanted night walk

Arbora Lumina sparks wonder & a wave of tourism at Domaine d’Harcourt

Moment Factory, a multidisciplinary entertainment studio with 25 years of expertise in creating immersive experiences, is spotlighting a 1,000-year-old estate in Normandy, France, with Arbora Lumina, the latest instalment of its Lumina Enchanted Night Walk series.

The collaboration with the Département de l’Eure brings the Lumina experience to its oldest location to date: Domaine d’Harcourt, home to one of the country's best-preserved castles and oldest arboretums.

The immersive nighttime outdoor journeys have attracted millions of guests across the globe since their launch in 2014, and this latest edition illustrates their continued appeal.

In its opening month, Arbora Lumina nearly sold out every night, already drawing close to 50,000 visitors total — an early sign that it is on track to becoming a major cultural draw and catalyst for tourism in the region.

Sensing the spirit of a place

In a bespoke design for Domaine d’Harcourt, Arbora Lumina presents a sensory experience of a landscape formed by history, nature, and time.

Guests are invited on an immersive journey in which they inhabit the site's spirit, engaging with its evolving character through their own movement, presence, and imagination.

Julie Boniche, Moment Factory’s creative lead on the project, says: "With a site as ancient and majestic as the Domaine d’Harcourt, the first step is always to listen to the place.

"From our very first visit, we were struck not only by the site’s fairy-tale beauty, but by how time can be read in its landscape.

"Mineral and botanical elements have existed in balance here for centuries, creating something that’s both visually and viscerally arresting. It’s like a love story between bark and stone, and we wanted visitors to live it first-hand."

With this creative vision, Moment Factory developed an approximately 1 km trail, unfolding across nine multimedia zones, each offering a unique artistic interpretation of an aspect of the site’s rich identity.

Together, they form a sensory journey that achieves what a historical retelling alone cannot: a lived and deeply felt experience of place, as it has evolved through time.

A millennium of history meets modern multimedia

Like all of Moment Factory’s Lumina Night Walks, this story is told through an expertly layered blend of light, music, projection, and scenography that guides guests from the site’s ancient arboretum to its medieval castle.

The multimedia technology is seamlessly integrated into the site, with the aim of heightening its emotional impact while preserving the site's architecture and environment.

Alexandre Rassaert, president of Département de l’Eure, says: "Throughout the entire creation process, Moment Factory’s team showed deep reverence for the site, working closely with us to adhere to preservation guidelines — to help us celebrate and protect what makes this place so special."

The studio has refined this approach over more than 20 years of experience at sites of cultural significance, including AURA Invalides in Paris, Ode à la Vie at the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, AURA Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and Light Cycles in the Kyoto Botanical Gardens.

Catalyst for tourism

Since its launch in December, Arbora Lumina has enabled Domaine d’Harcourt to diversify its offerings. While attracting new visitors, it also gives locals a reason to return, and extends operating hours into the evening and off-peak seasons.

"The Domaine d’Harcourt is entering a new era. This project responds to a clear ambition: to offer a world-class tourist destination capable of rivaling the greatest sites through cultural audacity," says Rassaert.

The project supports the Département de l’Eure’s mission of bringing renewed attention to the Eure region and Normandy, positioning Domaine d’Harcourt as a year-round tourist destination and successfully activating the previously slow winter season.

For Moment Factory, the project confirms that Lumina Enchanted Night Walks, like its renowned AURA series, provide a compelling way to revive interest in heritage sites with expansive grounds.

The award-winning Lumina series includes more than 25 experiences worldwide to date. Arbora Lumina is joined in France by Alta Lumina in Les Gets and Oceana Lumina in Rochefort.

Last month, Moment Factory shared details of its partnership with Mandai Wildlife Group to create and produce Curiosity Cove, Singapore’s largest nature-inspired indoor playscape for children aged 3 to 12.
