Creative Studio Berlin, the experiential design firm founded by Chris Lange, has worked with Merlin Entertainments once more, this time to produce the new Babylon Berlin Bar and Fashion Zone at Madame Tussauds Berlin.
The brand-new zones, which take inspiration from the popular Babylon Berlin TV series, were designed in-house by Merlin Magic Making, working in close collaboration with the production company behind the series, X-Filme Creative Pool.
New areas inspired by iconic TV show
The new zone at Madame Tussauds Berlin is a remodel of an existing area. At the Babylon Berlin Bar, guests can enjoy delicious drinks and cocktails, while the space can also be used as an event venue in the evenings.
The immersive area features many details, including physical sets and interactives. There are also three new wax figures of characters from the TV show to discover, Kommissar Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch), Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries) and Esther Kasabian (Meret Becker).
“We used local vendors to fabricate the elaborate sets and props which made the process very efficient on top of supporting Berlin-based businesses,” says Daniel Rüde, show producer at Creative Studio Berlin, who was responsible for delivering the project. “Our scenic vendor Art Department Studio Babelsberg even worked on the original Babylon Berlin TV series.”
Nadja Troublefield, cluster general manager at Madame Tussauds Berlin, adds: “Chris and his team successfully delivered another project for us in a very short time. Our guests are completely immersed, entertained, and even enjoy drinks in our attraction from now on.”
Last year, Creative Studio Berlin designed and produced the new Roaring Twenties area at Madame Tussauds Berlin. The firm also recently worked on the Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin, which opened to visitors on 17 June, creating an hour-long, immersive experience which explores 2,000 years of German history, from the uprising of Germanic tribes against the Romans in 9 AD to the country’s World Cup in 2006.
