Firstly, for its 400-seat theatre in the new west wing of the Commons (opening Q3, 2024), the c, a long-time Cinéfolio client at the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, has chosen D3D as its cinema integration and content partner.

Revitalising auditoriums

Another new partner is Adventure Aquarium, Philadelphia’s popular aquarium in Camden. Formerly a 4D venue, the aquarium will feature film programming aimed at young and family audiences, drawing from D3D’s extensive ocean film portfolio.

Rebecca Kalitz, the director of finance, said “D3D continues to be a great technology partner. The move from 4D to 3D – and featuring a DCI-compliant projection system – has really opened the door to more versatile programming, including the deep bench of content from the Cinéfolio portfolio.”

And the IMAG History and Science Center in Ft. Myers, Florida, has selected D3D to furnish a DCI cinema system upgrade, manage support and provide content through the Cinéfolio subscription program.

Matthew Johnson, the executive director, explained that the “plan was to revitalize an ageing auditorium with the latest in 3D cinema technology, offering IMAG’s visitors with a wider selection of film content. D3D specializes in such retrofits, and the quality of our theatre experience is now top tier. I encourage anyone with an ageing or underutilized museum space to consider Cinéfolio.”

D3D will announce more news about Cinéfolio museum cinemas coming in the months ahead.

In other news, D3D Cinema, the official distributor of Birdly for the museum, zoo and aquarium industries, recently unveiled Birdly World, a new experience for the pioneering flight simulator platform. The new release from Somniacs AG seamlessly melds the power of Google Earth VR with the extraordinary Birdly game controller.
