Event, the experience design agency, has recently been appointed by Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Canada, to help deliver the museum’s major renovation – the Glenbow Reimagined Project. The project is embracing key trends in the modern-day museum sector, with the goal of creating a community- and people-centred organisation. Sustainability, radical accessibility and innovation will all be core values for the reimagined Glenbow.
For this project Event, working with Eos and MGAC, is providing exhibition design, creative direction, interpretation, graphic concept and detail design service, wayfinding and signage as well as exhibition lighting.
An ambitious plan
Glenbow is on a mission to change the face of museums in Canada, transforming Calgary’s cultural offer. One key goal for the project is to focus more on decolonisation, respecting the fact that the museum is located on Treaty 7 territory.
The project first got underway in 2020, and the museum closed to the public in 2021. When it reopens in 2025, it will include a new and welcoming lobby and terrace, as well as a restaurant and enhanced retail shop.
Redesigned gallery spaces will be able to accommodate large-scale exhibitions and installations, and will feature new technology for a more engaging experience. The new theatre space will enable the museum to host film screenings, artist talks and live performances.
Event also recently delivered a visitor experience masterplan for Science Centre Singapore, ahead of a planned move to a new, state-of-the-art building in Jurong Lake Gardens. The Event team has been working on the masterplan throughout 2022, collaborating with the science centre to define the visitor experience.
