Middle East‘s first DreamPlay FEC will open in late 2026

DreamPlay, a family entertainment centre (FEC) featuring DreamWorks characters and experiences, is coming to Saudi Arabia.

The new FEC is a partnership between DreamWorks Animation, Universal Live Entertainment and Alshaya Group, a leading brand franchise operator.

The Middle East‘s first DreamPlay FEC will open at The Avenues, a mixed-use development in Riyadh, in late 2026.

John Hadden, CEO of Alshaya Group, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with DreamWorks Animation to bring beloved animated characters to life at DreamPlay, a family entertainment concept filled with fun activities the whole family can enjoy.”

DreamPlay venues are immersive FECs where children can play and enjoy experiences inspired by DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon.

“We’re excited to partner with Alshaya Group on the first DreamPlay in the Middle East,” said Page Thompson, president of new ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences.

“We look forward to bringing DreamWorks Animation’s characters and stories to life for families in Riyadh in 2026.”

Waleed Alsharian, CEO of Shomoul Holding, the developer behind The Avenues, added: “This exciting entertainment experience, along with many other world-class leading brand experiences, is set to open in 2026 as we bring one of the largest lifestyle destinations to the region.”

An existing DreamPlay destination can be found at the City of Dreams Manila integrated resort in the Philippines.

Earlier this year, Universal Orlando opened its new DreamWorks land, a colourful world based on DreamWorks IP including Shrek, Trolls and Kung Fu Panda.
