Innovative Leisure takes Danish adventurers up a level

Universe Sky Trail upgraded and UK climbing wall opened by Anne, Princess Royal

Innovative Leisure, a leading supplier of adventure attractions, was recently recruited to make aerial enhancements to an already popular active attraction.

Universe is a Danish adventure park filled with experiences designed to fascinate and entertain audiences within the themes of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). The park receives over 140,000 visitors each year, approximately 10 per cent consisting of educational groups.

Last year, one in three visitors discovered the various challenging elements of Sky Trail Explorer, making it one of the most popular attractions in the park, and to meet demand, management decided to expand the experience.

The Sky Trail was originally a two-level high ropes course installed by Innovative Leisure at the venue for Universe’s 2017 season. The company was recently tasked with adding another level to the course which would increase capacity, due to its popularity with visitors of all ages.

Scaling up the adventure

The eight-pole course has now been extended to feature a third high ropes level, taking the structure to a new height of fifteen metres and enabling it to cater to up to sixty participants at any one time, comprising an increased 37 different elements.

The course now boasts Europe’s first curved Sky Rail Zip on the third level, which also features two new adventure elements for guests: the Rolling Log and Roller Rail.

Universe project manager Troels Nim Andersen says “In this project, we added one more floor to the existing Sky Trail high ropes. We also focus more on science learning by moving in height.

“Along the way, we give guests hints at what happens to their bodies when they are high up and why it happens compared to the same activity on the ground. The new zip on the third floor is quite special – it is curved, so you start by setting off into nothing. The whole flying experience is amplified.”

Opened by a princess

Another Innovative Leisure installation at a UK disability charity recently received a visit from British royalty. The Chamwell Centre was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died last year.

The Chamwell Centre Charity managed the £5.1 million state-of-the-art centre, located on the grounds of The Milestone School in Gloucester, UK.

Digiwall is a technologically-advanced climbing wall with touch-sensitive features, offering a distinctive traversing experience for groups and individuals of varying abilities. The wall is an ideal fit for The Chamwell Centre, a charity that works to help transform the lives of those of all ages with disabilities.

The centre has a tailored selection of activities including a large hydrotherapy pool with therapy and sensory equipment. Visitors can also use facilities for physical and rebound therapies, as well as soft play and an all-ability play and sports area.

Last year, Innovative Leisure completed two major aerial projects for Haven Holiday Parks in the UK.
