Kraemer Design + Production, a leading designer of children’s museum exhibitions, science centres, theme parks and entertainment centres, has provided details of its educational work with the Mississippi Children’s Museum Jackson, on Rocky’s House: The Traveling Exhibit.
The firm has built a strong relationship with the Mississippi client over many years collaborating together on a number of projects, with this, its latest, having opened in February 2022. Kraemer has worked closely with the museum to develop exhibits that will make a positive impact on the lives of children.
Rocky’s House is named after Rocky the Reader, an enthusiastic young dog who enjoys reading, playing literacy games, and travelling with his friends. As a popular mascot and literacy advocate, Rocky guides visitors on a brief tour of the State of Mississippi with his brand-new travelling exhibit.

Mississippi Children’s Museum has joined with the Barksdale Reading Institute, funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, to create the ‘Talk from the Start’ initiative.
Rocky’s House is an extension of the campaign developed to raise awareness that communicating in conversation with children from birth is essential to academic success. There is a focus on playing, talking and reading, the three primary methods of language and literacy development.
“An eye for excellence”
Mississippi Children’s Museum president Susan Garrard says “KD+P was a fantastic partner in designing and fabricating Rocky’s House. From the time this project started as an idea, to the moment we had our ribbon cutting, they ensured that our needs were met and that our goals were achieved.”
Garrard adds “The team at KD+P has an eye for excellence and their work reflects that passion. If you’re looking for a team to help you create life-changing spaces and experiences, KD+P is an excellent partner!”
Bill Zimmerman, a graphic designer at KD+P, worked with the MCM team from the commissioning of the project and concludes “It is a pleasure to work with the MCM team. Their creative enthusiasm and support ensure great outcomes for all our combined projects.”
Team members from Kraemer Design + Production volunteered their services during the recent festive period, volunteering with dinner at St. Francis Seraph Ministries in Cincinnati, Ohio, US.
