An escape room experience themed on the Saw film franchise is set to open in Las Vegas at the end of January.
The Official Saw Escape Experience has been created by Egan Productions in partnership with Lionsgate. Egan also operates the Fright Dome at Circus Circus Hotel in Las Vegas.
The Saw films grossed nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office and the escape experience is the first themed on the franchise.
Describing the attraction, the Saw Escape Experience website states: “Guests enter the historic Egan & Co. Meat Packing plant for an after hours tour, only to find they are players in an elaborate game devised by the infamous Jigsaw killer and his disciples.
“By working together to combat their fears, venture far out of their comfort zones, and solve intricate puzzles, guests will have the opportunity to win their freedom as they traverse the twists and turns of an entire factory of Jigsaw’s games – one of the largest escape experiences in the world.”
The attraction is scheduled to open on January 26 and will see groups of up to 12 visitors progress through a series of themed rooms solving traps and puzzles as a team. Its website describes it as an “intense escape experience” featuring special effects, mechanical devices and live actors in every room.
Jenefer Brown, Senior Vice President of Global Live and Location Based Entertainment for Lionsgate, said: “We cannot wait for fans to step into this massive escape experience and the twisted world of the Saw franchise. We are thrilled to partner with Jason and his team at Egan again, this time on a permanent basis for an attraction fans can experience year-round.”
Last year Universal Studios Hollywood put on a Saw-themed maze attraction as part of its Halloween Horror Nights®. In October Lionsgate also released a first-of-its-kind virtual reality advertisement powered by Unity Technologies for the most recent Saw film, Jigsaw.
