seeper, a leader in the design and build of interactive attractions, has provided digital magic in miniature for Merlin Entertainments’ popular attractions, Little BIG City and LEGO Discovery Centres.
The company was approached by Merlin a year ago to enhance new play tables at a number of its LEGO Discovery Centres with some audiovisual and interactive innovation.
After close collaboration with Merlin Magic Making to realise and evolve their idea, seeper was given the green light to develop audiovisual shows that bring the scenes to life with mapped video and accompanying audio.

This technology includes effects triggered by depth cameras focused on guests’ hands. Another innovation was the creation of touchscreen instruction prompt books to help visitors build dozens of models.
The company worked with the LEGO build shop and the Dino, Underwater and Arctic brand teams to create the enhanced tables for sites in the US, China and Australia.
Merlin Magic Making are consistently pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible, to offer more engaging and rewarding experiences to their guests.
Evan Grant seeper founder said “we are proud to work with Merlin, and we thrive off working on such innovative briefs”.

Elsewhere, Seeper has been bringing scale-models to life for Merlin’s Little BIG City Beijing. The company had already been asked to project onto models at Little BIG City Berlin. But, for the Beijing project, Seeper was brought in early on in the development of the attraction, which allowed the team to seamlessly integrate audiovisual technology and use it more widely.
Seeper used a combination of projecting on painted models to enhance the physical detail, and also projecting on blank surfaces, allowing them to diverge from the detail on the facade.
To find out more, meet the Seeper team at the Euro Attractions Show (EAS), RAI Amsterdam, from 25-27th September, 2018. Book a meeting, here.
