SSA Group, a best-in-class provider of integrated guest services, is now responsible for managing admissions at Honolulu Zoo in Hawaii, where it has implemented the zoo's first state-of-the-art digital ticketing system.
This new system will make it easier for guests to buy tickets in advance and have a smoother experience upon arrival.
The digital platform aims to improve the guest experience by minimising wait times at the entrance and supporting the zoo’s ongoing sustainability initiatives. Visitors can display their digital tickets on a mobile device for swift, simple entry.
This upgrade was achieved through a partnership between the City and County of Honolulu and SSA, the zoo’s longstanding concessionaire.

A more welcoming experience
“As long-time partners of the Honolulu Zoo, we’re proud to help bring their digital ticketing system to life,” says Sean McNicholas, CEO of SSA Group. “It’s a meaningful step in creating a smoother, more welcoming hospitality experience for every guest.”
Guests can still buy tickets directly at the front gate.

“This is a big step for us in making visits to the Honolulu Zoo more seamless and convenient,” says Jacqueline Peeler, assistant director at the Honolulu Zoo.
“We’re excited to step into this new chapter at the zoo and can’t wait to enhance the guest experience in the years to come.”
Scott Lobaugh, VP of Admissions at SSA Group, adds:
“We are excited to bring online ticketing to the Honolulu Zoo and to elevate the overall guest experience across admissions, culinary, and retail. Less time waiting in line means more time for guests to explore everything the Honolulu Zoo has to offer.
"It’s a true gem in the heart of Waikiki.”
Recently, SSA created a sustainable model for Café Seventy One at Florida Aquarium, showing how innovation can improve the guest experience and how sustainability can be integrated into every aspect.
