Guests can visit Santa’s sustainable house and an eco-friendly toy factory

Expo City Dubai‘s Winter City event is set to return this month with eco-friendly festive experiences that promote climate action.

From 15 December through 7 January, Expo 2020 Dubai’s Al Wasl Plaza will be home to Santa’s sustainable house, Mrs Claus’ bakery, an eco-friendly toy factory, and Frosty’s farmhouse.

During the Winter City experience, guests will join Santa on his quest to save the North Pole and its precious wildlife from the effects of climate change. Visitors will follow clues, conquer climate challenges and collect stamps.

In Santa’s house, guests will discover how he prioritises sustainability in his own home – from repurposed decorations to energy-efficient lighting. At the toy factory, children will make toys from recycled materials.

Mrs Claus’ bakery is where children can decorate polar bear and ice cap-shaped cookies as Santa’s elves share how to save polar habitats and give tips on how to reduce, reuse and recycle. Frosty’s farmhouse is a space for interactive workshops and green activities.

Additional attractions include a Christmas market, snow-covered trees, carnival games and photo opportunities.

Promoting climate action at Winter City

Winter City’s supersized post box will give young guests the chance to write letters to Santa using recycled paper and environmentally-friendly markers. Also, the event’s 52-foot Christmas tree has been recycled from last year.

Currently, Expo City Dubai is hosting Cop28, the 28th annual United Nations (UN) climate meeting.

In more news, the Expo 2030 world fair in Riyadh will turbocharge the Saudi Arabian tourism sector, according to the CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA).
