Blooloop is hosting the third greenloop sustainability in visitor attractions conference from 25 to 26 April, online. This unique cross-sector event brings together leading sustainability professionals from the world’s major museums, theme parks, zoos and other visitor attractions. They will share strategy insights and lessons learned to inspire us all to become more sustainable in our businesses and help protect the planet.

Speakers announced to date include WAZA, DisneyMerlin, the Science Museum of Minnesota, Efteling, PortAventura, Museums Galleries Scotland, Two Oceans Aquarium, Just Stop Oil and more.

Why people are THE success factor for your sustainability initiative

It is more important than ever that companies begin to focus on sustainability. Guests are increasingly using sustainability as a selection criterion in how they spend their money and time. Employees also want to work for companies with values that align with their own ecological concerns, and investors favour companies that can demonstrate their sustainability progress.

Yet starting this journey can be challenging. Economic pressures may reduce budgets, or feel as though there is a lack of measurement processes to determine what to do and the progress they have made.

Delivering amazing guest experiences centers on your talent, and securing that talent means responding to their concerns. Working for an environmentally responsible company that aligns with their values is non-negotiable for generations new to the workforce – it is part of how we stay relevant as a desirable employer.

Andreas Andersen, CEO, Liseberg

In this session, the panel will use their own experience to provide practical advice for others who are starting their sustainability journey. The discussion will cover:

  • How sustainability is an organisational culture issue
  • The challenge securing relevant competencies
  • What they would have done differently implementing sustainability knowing what they do now
  • How their sustainability journey has changed their long-term strategies

They will also share how to recognise talent gaps, the importance of communications, multi-disciplinary change management and the importance of tracking from a baseline.

The objective of this session is to help others contemplating their company’s sustainability commitments to progress more rapidly based on our learning: because we cannot afford for business, including in our industry, not to play its part to mitigate the climate emergency.

Una de Boer, CMO, WhiteWater

This session will take place at 4pm BST on 26th April.

Why should you attend greenloop?

With all visitor attractions needing to decarbonise and become more sustainable, greenloop will provide practical, actionable advice and case studies for our attendees, with take-aways that they can put into practice, as well as inspirational insights from industry leaders.

When it comes to solving really big challenges, like how do we build sustainable theme parks, resorts and cruise ships around the world, it takes all of us and all of these different industries coming together. And that’s what’s great about greenloop … our collaboration is key to really think about how we build sustainable themed entertainment experiences.
