Professor Tim Lenton, a Founder of the Global Systems Institute and Chair in Climate Change and Earth System Science at the University of Exeter, will speak at greenloop 2023.
Positive Tipping Points
We will be closing greenloop with a message of hope. Tim’s ground breaking research includes work on positive tipping points, showing how adoption of key zero emission solutions could result in big step changes in decarbonisation.
The Breakthrough Effect: HOW TO TRIGGER A CASCADE OF TIPPING POINTS TO ACCELERATE THE NET ZERO TRANSITIONHistory is rife with examples of rapid transitions that prove new solutions can take over a market in just a few decades
Blooloop director, Rachel Read says:
“We want greenloop attendees to come away from the conference informed and hopeful about the action that they can take to secure the future of their businesses, our sector and the planet for future generations.
The greenloop programme of speakers is carefully curated to offer a unique, useful and inspiring agenda. We’re so delighted to be able to offer our audience the chance to hear a world leading climate change scientist like Tim talk about his cutting edge research.
Join us next week to find out more.”

Professor Tim Lenton

Tim Lenton is a founder of the Global Systems Institute and Chair in Climate Change and Earth System Science at the University of Exeter. He has more than 25 years of research experience, focused on modelling life’s coupling to the Earth system, biogeochemical cycling, climate dynamics, and associated tipping points.
His books ‘Revolutions that Made the Earth’ (with Andrew Watson) and ‘Earth System Science: A Very Short Introduction’ have popularised a new scientific view of our planetary home. Lenton co-authored the ‘Planetary Boundaries’ framework and is renowned for his work identifying climate tipping points, which won the Times Higher Education Award for Research Project of the Year 2008. He has also received a Philip Leverhulme Prize 2004, the European Geosciences Union Outstanding Young Scientist Award 2006, the Geological Society of London William Smith Fund 2008, and the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award 2013.
Lenton is a member of the Earth Commission, an ISI Highly Cited Researcher, and in the top 100 of the Reuters ‘Hot List’ of the world’s top climate scientists. He is also a Turing Fellow, a Fellow of the Linnean Society, Geological Society and the Society of Biology.
Why should you attend greenloop?
With all visitor attractions needing to decarbonise and become more sustainable, greenloop will provide practical, actionable advice and case studies for our attendees, with take-aways that they can put into practice, as well as inspirational insights from industry leaders.
When it comes to solving really big challenges, like how do we build sustainable theme parks, resorts and cruise ships around the world, it takes all of us and all of these different industries coming together. And that’s what’s great about greenloop … our collaboration is key to really think about how we build sustainable themed entertainment experiences.
Emily Dow, Design Studio Executive with Walt Disney Imagineering at greenloop 2021

greenloop aims to connect sustainability leaders from across the attractions industry to enable us to move more quickly towards a more sustainable future.
greenloop is a must-attend event, crossing boundaries to bring together really thought-provoking insights and ideas around the way visitor attractions can not only minimise their environmental impact on the planet, but also act as catalysts for positive change. I cannot think of another event which goes near greenloop as a concentrated dollop of practical green inspiration – a must-attend for several of our team.
Dominic Hare, CEO Blenheim
