New experience platform aims to improve communication, navigation, and accessibility at the 70-acre site

Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has joined forces with Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to develop a new experience platform.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida spans a 70-acre site. It features bus tours of the spaceport, IMAX theatres, and the chance to see historic spacecraft and memorabilia.

The new experience platform aims to improve communication, navigation, and accessibility for the guests who visit the attraction each year.

As a technological pioneer, Kennedy Space Center works hard to provide a seamless, innovative experience to visitors. The attraction had been working with a bespoke mobile application, but when this became inefficient the operations team sought support from Attractions.io.

Optimising guest experiences

Attractions.io approach has combined the SaaS platform’s mobile app with its data console Connect. Together, they enable Kennedy Space Visitor Complex to improve visitor satisfaction and contact their visitors in real time.

The Visitor Complex use the app for promoting launch events, by sending launch details, countdowns, and special events to potential visitors. User data provides insights that guest services can use to continually refine messaging and improve income generation.

At the Visitor Complex, visitors can use Attractions.io’s acclaimed wayfinding solution to navigate the theatres, launch pads and other sights. This has been optimised for both online and offline use – an important consideration for such a vast venue.

Mark Locker, CEO of Attractions.io, says: “We’re thrilled that Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the launch point for our latest partnership. The center is an iconic institution that has been pushing the boundaries of technology for over half a century. We’re proud to contribute to this legacy and provide guests at their Visitor Complex with a digital companion that boosts their visit.”

“We’re excited to launch this new app and offer our guests an enhanced experience,” Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex comments: “Kennedy Space Center is always looking for ways to innovate and stay ahead of the curve. Our app is one example of how we’re pushing boundaries and continuing to inspire a generation of digital native space explorers.”

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex intends to build on its use of the Attractions.io platform with a mobile wallet integration which will be available to visitors this summer.

Attractions.io recently announced a new partnership with SSA Group. The two firms will create an improved visitor experience at cultural attractions by combining Attractions.io’s proven technology with SSA’s keen awareness of guests’ wants and needs.
