Howes’ career began in the 1980s when he met with Douglas Trumbull, a special effects pioneer at Showscan Corporation. Working in almost every area of the industry, the recently appointed director has both engineered and managed successful projects worldwide.

Howes says “I remember being quite intimidated, working with known experts in movie special effects, developing large-screen 70mm film-based attractions for high-profile tourist destinations”.

At Showscan, Howes was involved in combining digital-audio technologies with digital-projection technologies, both of which are now frequently featured in amusement parks and theatres worldwide.

Career progression

Howes has already worked with MediaMation Inc. numerous times in the past decade, notably as a Project Manager for its international cinema activities. In his new role, Vaughn will lead the firm’s sales department and ensure its customers will receive high-quality MediaMation products for their latest ventures.

“In my career, I have been very fortunate to be involved in groundbreaking experiences at famous theme parks, like Disneyland and Universal Studios, during the era of adapting industrial motion simulator systems to the entertainment world,” says Howes. “I feel lucky to have managed projects in almost every corner of the globe.”

A company representative adds “His passion for quality and excellence in our industry has helped put smiles on millions of faces over the years. We are excited to welcome Vaughn to the Mediamotion, Inc family.”

The appointment follows a number of new European installations, including new MX4D theatres at Kinepolis in The Netherlands and Cinemovida in France last year.
