Nubart, a creator of innovative audio guide solutions for visitor experiences, presents its latest product, a sophisticated audio guide system for boat tours, which can also be used on other vehicles.
Nubart is consistently innovating in the field of web-based audio tour solutions. Everything the company offers can be accessed via a QR code in a smartphone browser, eliminating the need for devices or apps.
When it comes to boat tours, some visitors cannot follow a live commentary because they don’t understand the language. Others – especially locals already familiar with the view – prefer to enjoy the experience in a quiet atmosphere, without commentary over loudspeakers. Nubart’s commentary system can solve all these problems at a low cost and without expensive hardware.
This innovative solution for boat tours features an automatic remote control activated by GPS and/or a timestamp. Passengers scan a QR code to select their preferred language. The QR codes can be either generic (the same QR code for all, ideal for free audio guides) or unique and non-transferable (perfect for venues looking to sell the audio guide as an additional service).
The vehicle’s guide or captain uses a master smartphone to receive GPS signals and timestamps, sending trigger signals to all passengers through the internet. Automatically, the correct tracks play on each passenger’s smartphone, in the appropriate language and at the right time.
Multilingual content delivered directly to passengers’ smartphones
This method benefits passengers by removing the need for them to authorise geolocation, thus making it more user-friendly for those who aren’t technology savvy. Furthermore, the tracks will continue to play even if the passenger navigates away from the browser, such as when they go to take photos.
In the event of poor internet connectivity during the trip, all tracks can be pre-loaded by scanning the QR code in an area with reliable connectivity.
Nubart’s advanced geolocation system can identify if the vehicle is arriving or leaving, ensuring that a track isn’t played more than once at the same location.
The company recently launched this system in Bilbao with Bilboats, which makes daily round trips around the Bilbao estuary.
“On our regular sightseeing tours along the Bilbao estuary, we had a manual remote control system, but it was very inconvenient for our crew to have to be on the lookout for the right moment to activate the commentary,” says Sergio Garavilla Fernández, CEO of Bilboats.
“The innovative automatic GPS remote control implemented by Nubart allows us to eliminate any source of error and devote all our attention to serving the passengers. What’s more, as this is a completely digital service, we don’t have to maintain expensive equipment.”
Nubart says: “Traditional commentary systems are logistically challenging for boats and buses. Our solution takes away the complexity. You can even give your passengers a quiet ride by eliminating the need for annoying loudspeakers. Our triggering system delivers your multilingual audio content directly to your passengers’ smartphones.”
