New video showcases every twist and turn of Nemesis Reborn

Alton Towers has released new drone footage of its new Nemesis Reborn coaster ahead of the launch this weekend (16 March).

The new footage showcases every twist and turn of Nemesis Reborn, which is reopening after an 18-month project to replace the original Nemesis ride.

The coaster’s 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track has been replaced, with red veins now covering it. Also, Nemesis Reborn features new storytelling elements and a redesigned mythical beast, brought to life through state-of-the-art audiovisual (AV) technology.

“For three decades the original Nemesis roller coaster provided an unrivalled experience for countless millions of thrill-seekers – making it one of the most cherished attractions in the UK,” said John Burton, senior creative lead at Merlin Magic Making.

“So when it came to bringing it to life for the 21st century, the stakes couldn’t have been higher. That’s why we pulled out all the stops to create Nemesis Reborn.

“Everyone involved in this incredible project has poured their heart and soul into it to ensure we create a roller coaster experience that is truly unrivalled and will set the standard for the next 30 years.”

Per a press release, the drone footage captures the power of Nemesis Reborn, which offers a g-force of 3.5 and top speeds of 50 mph. The ride experience also includes four full inversions, corkscrews and drops.

New Nemesis coaster to open this weekend

Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), the original Nemesis opened in 1994 as Europe’s first inverted roller coaster. It went on to develop a devoted global fanbase.

Before closing in November 2022, Nemesis travelled more than 800,000 miles and carried over 52 million riders.

To promote the launch of the new coaster, Alton Towers recently shared images of a giant, glowing alien eye in Staffordshire’s so-called Cannock Chase UFO hotspot.
