Compagnie des Alpes to Open Chaplin's World by Grévin in Spring 2016

Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) have announced a partnership with Genii Capital and Chaplin Museum Development to create Chaplin's World by Grévin, a museum devoted to the life and works of Charlie Chaplin.

The museum set in Chaplin’s home for 25 years, the Manoir de Ban, in Corsier-sur-Vevey in the Swiss Riviera will to open to the public in Spring 2016.

Chaplin's World will include over 4, 000sq m of exhibition space set in the Manoir de Ban and grounds,  and a new 2, 000sq m building.

The Genii Capital and CMD consortium, owners of the site since 2008, will invest over €25 million in building the new museum.

The project is backed by an economic development support loan of €8.2 million from Canton de Vaud, guaranteed by 10 local towns.

CDA will operate the museum under the "Chaplin’s World" brand and invest €7.9 million in the project.

This new development is in line with CDA’s strategic shift announced in 2013 to focus on “very high satisfaction leisure parks” and develop “indoor concepts that can be industrialized such as Grévin” abroad.

Dominique Marcel, CEO of CDA, said, "I am very happy that this very promising partnership has been established. The uniting of Chaplin's World and Grévin is multi-layered, driven by the desire to combine culture and entertainment. This combination strengthens and expands the internationalisation strategy put in place by the group for the Grévin brand."
