Disney Genie, a new service that offers existing planning features in one place, will debut this fall at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Disney Genie is a new trip-planning app that brings Disney‘s existing planning features together in one place. It is set to debut this fall at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.

Built into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, the free digital service guides visitors through Disney’s US parks. Disney Genie was first announced in 2019 during the D23 Expo.

“We’ve made significant investments in this cool new technology, which guides you through our theme parks with tips that can help you reduce time in lines, discover magic around every corner and take the guesswork out of ‘what’s next,'” Disney said.

Disney Genie+ to replace FastPass

Genie users can schedule dining and experience reservations, check wait times for rides, join virtual queues at certain attractions, order food, pay for merchandise, and get help from a virtual assistant.

The free service includes a personalised itinerary feature that will speedily and seamlessly map out an entire day. It takes into account personal preferences, from specific rides and F&B experiences to general interests such as Star Wars and Marvel.

Disney Genie will update visitors’ itineraries throughout the day, offering a flexible trip. Guests can also create a personal tip board. The service will display current and forecasted future wait times for rides and attractions.

Disney Genie+, a paid version of the app, will replace FastPass, FastPass+ and MaxPass. This will cost $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland, letting guests use the new Lightning Lane at select attractions.

Disney Genie available in US

Genie+ will also include Disney parks-themed audio experiences, augmented reality (AR) photo features and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads for Disneyland guests.

In addition to Genie+, Disney will also offer individual attraction selections. Visitors can schedule a time to ride up to two of its most in-demand attractions each day, including the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Radiator Springs Racers.

“You’ll be able to tell Disney Genie what you’d like to do and experience, and it will present you with an optimal day,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, during a virtual event in April.

“If you change your mind for any reason, Disney Genie will re-optimize your day visit.”
