Star Tours was the first Star Wars attraction to open in a Disney park.

Disney is adding new worlds and characters to the popular Star Tours attraction at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris from 2024.

Walt Disney Imagineering‘s portfolio creative executive Scott Trowbridge announced the news at the Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London.

“I was thrilled to join Imagineers Ann Morrow Johnson and Asa Kalama, as well as Matt Martin from Lucasfilm as we talked about how Star Wars comes to life at Disney parks,” Trowbridge wrote in a blog post.

Star Tours updates

Star Tours – the first Star Wars attraction in a Disney park – will feature “more stories and characters” next year, the Imagineer confirmed.

These are coming to Disneyland in California,  Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland Paris in France.

However, Trowbridge said he can’t reveal “just where we’re going yet – or those we may meet along the way”.

“We work hard to create all of these experiences for you because … we’re Star Wars fans, too,” he added.

“We look forward to the places we’ll go and the stories we can explore together next. So hopefully I’ll see you somewhere out there on the hyperspace routes.”

Star Tours opened at Disneyland in 1987. It has been updated to include new destinations over the years, with the most recent overlay inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Last year, Walt Disney World opened the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience, which takes place on the luxurious Halcyon ship.

This came after the launch of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World and Disneyland in 2019.
