Proposals include five thrill rides, nine family rides, two round rides and an outdoor show

Disneyland is planning 16 new rides and an outdoor show as part of its expansion project, dubbed DisneylandForward.

Via the Orange County Register, maps included in the recently released environmental impact report for the proposed expansion reveal 16 rides and an outdoor show.

Disneyland seeks to update a 1990s Anaheim city plan to add rides, attractions, retail, dining and entertainment to the eastern and western edges of the resort.

The report unveils a theme park expansion on the Downtown Disney and Lilo and Stitch parking lots with five thrill rides, nine family rides, two round rides and an outdoor show.

The two outdoor thrill rides would be similar to Big Thunder Mountain and Incredicoaster, and the three indoor thrill rides would be like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Space Mountain.

The five outdoor family rides would be similar to Autopia and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and the four indoor family rides would be like Soarin’ Around the World and Haunted Mansion.

The two round rides would be similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant and King Arthur’s Carrousel, and the outdoor show is compared to ‘World of Color’ and ‘Fantasmic‘.

As previously revealed, Disneyland’s plans include potential experiences and lands based on Frozen, Tangled, Peter PanZootopiaToy Story and Tron.

“This is the next generation of the Disneyland resort,” Disneyland president Ken Potrock said in May. “When Disney invests, all boats rise and everyone benefits.”

“The economic engine that is the Disneyland resort will be turning 68 years young in July, yet we believe it has more potential than ever,” he added.

Disneyland has already put forward its plans to Orange County business leaders. The resort has also held a series of community meetings in Anaheim to pitch its expansion plans to local residents.

Disneyland hopes to have the project go before the Anaheim City Council for approval before the end of 2024.
