Legoland Malaysia Resort has announced plans to enhance and expand its attractions and offerings, including refurbishing the Legoland Hotel, as part of its 10th anniversary.

“We will continue to build on our fundamentals, and focus on our strategic priorities by investing in enhancing, expanding, and establishing new activities to provide our guests with a truly unique experience that is only available in Legoland,” said Legoland Malaysia’s divisional director CS Lim (via New Straits Times).

The hotel refurbishment project is expected to be carried out in the first quarter of 2023. In addition, Legoland Malaysia will introduce the first-ever water park festival by mid-2023, and in the third quarter of next year it will launch 4D movies.

“Fellow explorers should look forward to experiencing the up-and-coming new themed room that will be joining the current offerings of pirate, kingdom, adventure and Ninjago in the first quarter of 2023,” Lim said.

Legoland Malaysia is also due to open a shaded Miniland in January 2023. Lim said: “The investments and enhancements align with our strategic priorities to draw new and repeat visitors from domestic and international tourists to Legoland Malaysia Resort.”

“Over the past decade, Legoland Malaysia Resort has worked closely with key government agencies to ensure that Malaysia continues to be an attractive destination choice for international travellers.”

Opened in September 2012, Legoland Malaysia is home to more than 70 rides, slides, shows and attractions. Part of the Merlin Entertainments family, it also features a Sea Life Aquarium.

Legoland Korea Resort opened in Chuncheon, South Korea in May. It is the world’s 10th Legoland attraction and the first Legoland resort to be built on an island.

It also has room to expand. “We have aspirations to grow,” Ray Dubois, Merlin’s director of projects for Asia, told blooloop. “Legoland California, which is our most highly-attended park, took 20 years to get to where it’s at today.”
