MK Themed Attractions, the Danish attractions specialists, have announced the completion of new theming at Walibi Holland. The wilderness themed land includes a mysterious forest, themed food outlets and a giant entrance sculpture.
MK Themed attractions have spent two months transforming the previous Sherwood Forest area at Walibi Holland. The new-look area is home to an exciting new hybrid coaster, Untamed. To match this theme, MK Themed Attractions have created a wilderness area.
The extensive project features a wide range of fibreglass production, as well as comprehensive woodwork, ironwork, painting and decorating. These materials all work together to create a convincing new themed area. Leisure Expert Group is responsible for designing the area. The existing food outlets, Merlin’s Pizza and a hotdog stall, have been also been re-themed to fit the area. Merlin’s Pizza has been covered with a wooden exterior and sports a new hand-painted sign.
“We have produced many of Leisure Expert Group’s previous designs including Movie Park’s re-theme of their Rapid River and most of Djurs Sommerland’s theming including the brand new Tigeren,” said Rene Hansen, Managing Director at MK Themed Attractions. “So we have time and time again proved that we are good at bringing designed visions to life for large-scale projects such as Walibi Holland’s new Wilderness area”.
Eye-catching sculpture
One feature that visitors can’t miss is the new giant sculpture that provides the entryway to the area. It has four steel arms, gears, and a dark blue VW Beetle car perched on top. Park guests pass under the sculpture to gain access to the Wilderness area.
“We felt comfort in choosing MK Themed Attractions as total supplier of the theming for our new area, based on the previous work we have seen from the company”, says Wiebe Damstra, Project Manager at Walibi Holland. “Our new Wilderness area is designed to be a bit strange, special and friendly, and MK Themed Attractions has managed to bring that particular feeling to life in the best possible way.”
The company behind Walibi, Compagnie des Alpes, is upgrading its park portfolio across Europe.
MK Themed Attractions is also responsible for the theming of one of the biggest rides ever built in Denmark, due to open this summer.
