Dark ride specialists, Sally Corporation and thematic experts, Sanderson Group have joined forces to create a new dark ride for Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS), Malaysia.
Themed on Dreamworks IP, Casper the Friendly Ghost, the new interactive family ride, entitled Casper’s Birthday Blast, features animatronic figures and animated props.
Casper the Friendly Ghost has been a staple of mainstream entertainment for many years, successfully transferring from print to television to video games without losing any of its appeal. Casper’s Birthday Blast is expected to prove a hit with guests of all ages.
Sanderson Group, who specialise in thematic economic planning, master planning, design and construction as well as delivering turnkey projects, has created the original design and scenic treatments for the ride. Sally Corporation, a leading design and build company for interactive dark ride attractions, has been responsible for the interactive elements as well as the ride system, soundtrack and overall show control.
According to a recent press announcement made in conjunction with the Tourism Malaysia, MAPS is expected to open in December 2016. Asia’s first animation theme park, at a development cost of RM450 million, occupies 52 acres and promises over 40 attractions in 6 thematic zones: Dreamworks Adventure Zone, Animation Square, The Smurfs, Stunt Legend Show, Blast Off Zone and Fantasy Forest Zone. IPs represented include Casper the Friendly Ghost, Megamind, The Croods and Mr Peabody and Sherman.
The park is anticipating 1.4 million visitors in its first year of operations, hosting 8, 000 to 10, 000 visitors at a time.
