SeaWorld and Sesame Workshop have announced the opening of Sesame Place San Diego. The first Sesame Place location on the West Coast features 18 family-friendly rides and attractions.
Sesame Place San Diego, the second Sesame Place location in the US, is also home to water slides, immersive entertainment and character experiences.
The 17-acre park features an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood with the iconic 123 Stoop, as well as an award-winning parade, family-friendly roller coaster, wave pool and lazy river.
“This is a great time for the company as we open the doors to sunny days at Sesame Place and welcome guests from all over to experience this new theme park,” said Marc Swanson, SeaWorld‘s CEO.
Second Sesame Place venue in the US

“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with Sesame Workshop,” Swanson added.
“We are continuing the legacy we started 42 years ago together by creating a second theme park in the United States where children and guests can laugh, learn and enjoy playing in a fun and meaningful way.”
Rides at Sesame Place San Diego include Cookie Climb and Elmo’s Rockin’ Rockets. Water attractions include Elmo’s Silly Sand Slides, The Count’s Splash Castle, and Big Bird’s Beach, which features a 500,000-gallon wave pool.
“This park is part of a big year for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment as we have opened new attractions already in 2022 across multiple parks as part of our overall business strategy and will continue to expand our offerings in the coming years with exciting experiences for our guests,” Swanson said.

SeaWorld has been Sesame Workshop’s exclusive theme park partner in the US since the launch of Sesame Place in Philadelphia in 1980. Sesame Place San Diego is a Certified Autism Center (CAC).
“This moment has been over 40 years in the making,” added Ed Wells, executive vice president and head of global media and education at Sesame Workshop.
“We are thrilled to continue expanding our partnership with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment with the introduction of Sesame Place San Diego, the West Coast’s only standalone theme park based entirely on Sesame Street.”
“This park is full of new interactive, entertaining, and playful learning experiences for families and continues our mission of helping kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder,” Wells said.
