As Universal extends its theme park closures around the world because of COVID-19, Universal Orlando is reported to have sent a survey to its annual passholders.
This survey asks passholders what their opinions are on possible precautions that could be used when the parks reopen, according to Inside the Magic.
Parks could reopen at reduced capacity
This survey gave passholders the option to respond with their level of comfort with different options. Answers range from ‘This would make me feel more comfortable’, ‘This is a basic requirement for me’ to ‘This would be a major problem for me’.
Passholders were asked how they felt about the parks reopening at 25%, 50% and 75% capacity, as well as implementing touch-free payment for food and merchandise. They were also asked if guests to the theme parks should have to wear face masks.
One question suggested that parades and nighttime shows could be suspended, therefore preventing crowds forming in one place. Indoor attractions and shows might also be closed, again to prevent crowding.

Testing team members
Another question suggests that Universal Studios is considering testing the temperature of all team members. If a team member had a high fever, they would not be able to work until they have been fever-free for 24 hours.
This questionnaire also asked how comfortable guests would feel if 3D glasses were removed from certain rides or if self-service food options were removed. Another question asked how visitors would feel if virtual queues were implemented for most attractions.
This survey is not a confirmation of any safety measures Universal Studios will be making, but the questions asked will give the theme park an idea of public opinion. It also suggests that when it reopens, Universal Orlando will have a number of changes to how it operates.
It is likely that theme parks are going to have to operate differently when they reopen. Theme parks that have reopened in China have already implemented some of these ideas, such as all visitors wearing face masks and reducing capacity to 50%.
Bob Iger has said that in order for guests to feel safe when they visit reopened Disney theme parks, Disney may implement temperature checks before entering the parks.
