Therme Group has broken ground on its S$1 billion state-of-the-art wellness resort in Singapore, the company's first destination in Asia.
Spanning four hectares along the Marina South waterfront, Therme Singapore will also be Asia's first large-scale thermal wellness destination when it opens in 2030.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment in the Singapore government, said wellness tourism "is a key growth area" for Singapore.
The global wellness economy reached $6.8 trillion in 2024 and is projected to grow to about $9.8tn by 2029.

Therme Singapore, she added, "supports our broader move towards higher-value, experience-led tourism, and strengthens our position as an urban wellness haven".
The new attraction is being developed by Singapore architecture firm DP Architects and Therme's in-house architecture practice and design company.
Highlights will include thermal pools, saunas, steam baths and waterslides, as well as botanical gardens and art installations.
"Therme Singapore will be a significant addition to Singapore’s vibrant attractions landscape," said Fu.

Fu also confirmed that Therme Group will establish its regional headquarters in Singapore, where it "will oversee its pipeline of projects across Asia, drawing on our connectivity, talent and financial capabilities".
"Asia is a fast-growing tourism destination, and is projected to lead the world in travel and tourism growth over the next decade," said Fu.
"Singapore is well placed to capture this opportunity. By developing distinctive, high-quality attractions and continually refreshing our tourism experiences, we can strengthen our appeal to the growing pool of travellers.
"Projects like Therme Singapore contribute to this effort."
Therme Group's expansion
In addition to the Singapore project, Therme Group is developing new wellness destinations in the UK, Germany, Canada, the US, South Korea and Dubai.
