American Wave Machines (AWM), a leading wave pool, surf park and wave technology company, has announced that land development and construction planning has begun on its PerfectSwell Edgewater project in Florida, US.
Initially, the project was envisioned as a New Smyrna Beach development, however, was relocated 4 miles south to a location close to the I-95 corridor in the City of Edgewater, to allow for a much larger building footprint.
PerfectSwell Edgewater will merge exciting high-performance surf technology with a peaceful local environment while being surrounded by natural resources and wildlife corridors.
Creating a distinct vibe
The 161-acre mixed-use highway commercial property that Hawks Gate Development is creating includes the 15-acre PerfectSwell Edgewater project. With the same improvements and cutting-edge technology found at AWM’s largest project to date, Boa Vista Village, it will also feature a PerfectSwell Surf Pool.
Additionally, there will be surf-themed food and drinks, a surf shop, a surf school, a clubhouse, conference rooms, and cabana and day lounge areas. The development will include a 125-room hotel next to PerfectSwell Edgewater.
“The eastern seaboard is home to one of the largest populations of surfers. Add to that a location right next to one of the most heavily trafficked highways and you have a compelling proposition,” says project developer Mike Lopez. “Combined with the natural beauty of the surrounding area, PerfectSwell Edgewater will create a distinct and local vibe. We’re ready to start surfing.”
Mayor of Edgewater, Michael Thomas, adds: “The City of Edgewater is thrilled that American Wave Machines is bringing the beach to our city. An economic driver, PerfectSwell Edgewater will be an exceptional surfing destination providing meaningful social and economic value for the city and we look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”
The project site ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday 3 November 2022.
Earlier this year, ProSlide and American Wave Machines announced a partnership with ProSlide Technologies, allowing the latter firm to offer real ocean dynamics to the firm’s customers.
