Aquatic Development Group Begins Construction of $46m H2OBX Waterpark

News

Leading creator of recreational environments, Aquatic Development Group (ADG), has begun construction of a brand new waterpark in the Outer Banks (OBX) tourist destination in North Carolina.

The $46m H2OBX Waterpark will offer over 30 waterslides and attractions to the hundreds of thousands of families who visit the 130-mile stretch of barrier islands each year.

ADG is the lead designer and builder on the project which features first-to-market and hybrid attractions in a range of sizes, thrills and intensities designed to appeal to all ages.

Key attractions include a Flowrider®, an adventure river, a Twin Tides™ wave pool and 1, 000-gallon bucket dump.

Ken Ellis, President and CEO of ADG, is also co-owner of the park, along with Camelback Resort owner, Arthur Berry III.

“H2OBX is going to be incredibly innovative because we have the full force of the industry’s best people behind it, ” commented Ellis.

“I’m extremely proud of the talented and diligent team at ADG, the innovative slide design by WhiteWater West, the sophisticated details by Weber Group, and the work put forth by so many others who have created such a unique waterpark plan.”

The 80 acre park will also boast an upscale area to relax in, including 50 private cabanas, a premium cabana village, first-class amenities and luxury guest service in a private oasis setting.

Further facilities include shaded seating areas and multiple food and beverage outlets including a Wright Brothers flyer themed bar.

“H2OBX will further benefit the area through pre- and post-opening job creation and draw additional tourism to the area, ” added Berry.
