Plans for Malaysia’s new tourism development Desaru Coast, including its latest offerings, were presented at ITB Asia 2017.
The tourist destination is situated on the south-east of Malaysia with an area of over 3,900 acres, looking over 17km of beachfront, with views of the South China Sea.
There are four hotels and resorts here, plus golf courses, a themed waterpark, conference centre and a retail village.
“Desaru Coast’s involvement in ITB Asia 2017 will open doors for us to connect with buyers of all sectors within the travel-value chain commerce whilst positioning Desaru Coast as the destination of choice amongst holidaymakers and business travellers alike within the region,” said Muhammad Zainal Ashikin, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd.
“We look forward to sharing a preview of the destination that will appeal to both inbound and outbound travellers with its myriad of offerings,” he told The Sun Daily.
Desaru Coast Riverside is a 23-acre water-front landscaped retail and lifestyle village located in the heart of Desaru Coast. It will have a range of retail, eateries and entertainment outlets.

For golfers, the Els Club Desaru Coast has two championship golf courses, the 27-hole Ocean Course and the 18-hole Valley Course.
Further information will be revealed in stages and the remaining components are set to open from around June 2018.
Phase 1, which comprises the golf courses, hotels, waterpark, conference centre and retail village, will take up an area of around 625 hectares.
The New Straits Times reported that the gross development value for Phase 1 was approximately RM5 billion (£1bn).
Themed Attractions Resorts and Hotels (TAR&H) said Phase 2 to Phase 5 of the project would be developed between 2017 and 2022.
