Great Wolf Lodge has broken ground on a new $300 million resort and water park in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The company’s 23rd resort in North America will open in 2025.
The 549-room resort is being built in partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. It will be located on 13 acres adjacent to the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
John Murphy, CEO of Great Wolf Resorts, thanked the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation for its support in the development of a third resort in the Northeast region “to further complement our existing resorts Pocono Mountains and New England”.
“We’re excited to get this resort underway with today’s groundbreaking and help contribute to the growth and prosperity of this community,” added Murphy.

The venue will include a 91,000-square-foot indoor water park, as well as a 61,000-square-foot family entertainment centre (FEC). The water park will be home to body slides, tube slides, raft rides, activity pools and splash areas.
The FEC, called the Great Wolf Adventure Park, will provide attractions such as MagiQuest, Great Wolf’s exclusive game where players use interactive magic wands to battle goblins and dragons.
Great Wolf Lodge, in conjunction with shareholders Blackstone and Centerbridge Partners, will be making a donation to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
“The introduction of this new location will help bring incredible economic value and exciting job opportunities to the hardworking people in our area,” said Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation chairman Rodney Butler.

“This project with Great Wolf Lodge marks another milestone for us as we continue to trailblaze in the guest experience, and we couldn’t be more proud to bring this family-friendly experience to the area,” said Jason Guyot, Foxwoods’ president and CEO.
Great Wolf Resorts is North America’s largest family of indoor water park resorts. The new Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland is due to open in summer 2023.
The group has also broken ground on new locations in Naples, Florida and Webster, Texas.
