Construction starts on $550m Kalahari Resorts Round Rock

Construction has started on the new Kalahari Resorts complex in Round Rock, Texas that will feature a convention centre and “America’s largest indoor water park”.

Scheduled to open in 2020, Kalahari Resorts Round Rock is a $550m, 141-hectare complex in the city of Round Rock, Texas. It will include nearly 1,000 guest rooms, a state-of-the-art convention centre, more than a hectare of outdoor pools, five restaurants, a spa and 930sqm of retail space.

The resort will also feature an African-themed water park, which Kalahari claims is the largest indoor water park in the US at 20,700sqm. Tom Foolery’s Adventure Park will also be part of the complex, offering 7,500sqm of thrill rides, ropes course, climbing walls, indoor zip line, bowling, laser tag, mini-golf and more.

The convention centre will span 20,000sqm and include 3,700sqm and 2,500sqm ballrooms, 16 meeting rooms, a full-service business centre and 4,600sqm of outdoor event space.

“As the Round Rock property begins construction, we look forward to contributing to the local economy and sharing our beyond-expectations approach to hospitality with area vacation goers, conference attendees and local guests throughout the region.”

Round Rock will be the fourth African-themed resort by Kalahari to open in the US, following on from Wisconsin Dells, Sandusky, and the Pocono Mountains.
