The Cactus Waterpark, the first themed waterpark in the Bodrum region of Turkey, opened in June 2014.
Polin Waterparks designed, engineered, manufactured and installed the new waterpark's waterslides.
The Cactus Hotels Group owns 10 hotels and resorts in Bodrum, and the Pirates of the Cactus Waterpark joins the group as a themed waterpark.
The park is dedicated to the memory of Muhittin Unsal Tulbentci, founder of the Group, by his family. Muhittin Unsal Tulbentci, a well-respected veteran of Turkey's Tourism Sector and recipient of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Superior Service Medal, died in 2012.
Daughters Ece Gurcay and Esra Demirci are continuing in their father’s footsteps.
Esra Demirci said, "We want to honor our father with attractions and offerings that make our company recognized as among the world's best."
This ambition led the Group to choose Polin Waterparks to provide high the quality water attractions and the Futuraform Company to develop the theming for the new waterpark.
Esra Demirci explained, "We were familiar with Polin's reputation for creating some of the most innovative waterslides and family rides. We knew that our father would have insisted on working with a company that maintained his same ideals."
Pirates of the Cactus features a range of aquatic attractions for all the family. The 4, 500 square meters waterpark includes nine different slides, a children's pool and a wave pool.
The park's aquatic attractions by Polin include:
Navigator: Themed as an anaconda snake, the 135-meter Navigator is the star of the water park.- Black Hole: A part-open/part-closed slide incorporating Polin's Natural Light Effects.
- Flying Boats: A mid-speed beginner slide.
- Wave Slide: A 10-meter thrill ride with starfish and wave decor.
- Tunnel Freefall: A thrilling ride in the dark.
- Multislide: Three riders race head-to-head on this thrill ride.
- Kamikaze: A high speed water slide.
- Aquatube: Starting three stories up guests slide through transparent tubes along a 75-meter path.
- Body Slides: A smooth 75-meter water slide suitable for both kids and adults.
- Other Polin-designed attractions at the park include a Baby Octopus, Mini Pirate Ship, Mushroom, Dolphin, an AT 310 with a Pirate Theme and a SprayVille.
