WhiteWater have created Zoombezi Bay’s $4.5 million new themed interactive play structure, Baboon Lagoon.
The custom themed AquaPlay RainFortress™, which opened to the public in May, includes an interactive play structure surrounded by a heated pool with nine waterslides, a 1000 gallon tipping bucket and more than ninety interactive water play elements.
In addition WhiteWater have produced hand carved, highly detailed figures of sixteen baboons and a giant blue-ringed octopus.
WhiteWater has been investing in developing their theming capabilities which have enabled them to deliver the high quality hand carved pieces needed for Zoombezi Bay.
WhiteWater’s theming and production manager, Chris Biancofiore, who has lead the strategic changes in the theming department, explains, “We have made considerable improvements over the years in design and pushing the boundaries on what we can do.”
Commenting on the new attraction, General Manager of Zoombezi Bay and The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, John P. Gannon, said, “We are thrilled to introduce Central Ohio to the most exciting multi-level play structure that the area has ever seen. WhiteWater was able to theme the structure to our unique requests.
"Zoombezi Bay is owned by The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium; and as such; we wanted a structure that was full of animal surprises. WhiteWater’s design studio can make whatever a park’s unique needs call for.”
