wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, has replaced a set of waterslides at South Korea’s Ocean Adventure water park, providing new experiences for families and thrill-seekers.
The latest investment from the German firm follows the addition of three large slide experiences last year. Already enjoyed by visitors are a 77-metre long three-lane mat tumble wave slide, and a 103-metre three-lane long mat racer with a helix and wave slide features, both fabricated from stainless steel. Ocean Adventure has also installed a Body Bowl attraction, constructed from glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) which creates colourful effects during the day.
Landmark slide feature
This month, the park has expanded with the launch of its latest slide, one of the venue’s longest at 600 feet long. Reaching a height of almost 69 feet, the new addition is the largest ‘Fusion’ slide Wiegand has ever built. The slide has an 8.85ft diameter tube diameter, accommodating up to five riders who can glide past daylight effects with bespoke-created imagery.
A large drop quickly leads swimmers into a gigantic “Big Bang” stainless steel feature – again, the biggest manufactured by Wiegand. The U-shaped half-pipe ensures guests will start sliding in the opposite direction to where they will head thereafter, swinging across the funnel without affecting water accumulation.
Wiegand says: “This guarantees maximum swings and multiple moments of weightlessness and over 15 seconds of action alone in this spectacular element. Perfectly positioned, waiting guests have an uninterrupted view from the staircase of this happening”.
The hybrid slide’s signature LOTUS element is decorated with a symbolic anchor. The steep leaf-shaped curve provides a brief moment of weightlessness with its parabolic curve, before concluding with a gentle runout pool.
A representative for the firm says the result is “the best waterslide with a pendulum effect on the market”.
