The slide part is the first-of-its-kind from the German manufacturer

wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, presented its latest innovation at IAAPA Expo last week, bringing an exciting new feature to the firm’s water products for the first time.

wiegand.waterrides is known for its highly inventive water slides and distinct stainless-steel designs including the groundbreaking SlideWheel, and, most recently, the fast-paced SlideCoaster which saw high levels of interest in Orlando.

Thrilling slide component

Following research and development, the water slide crossing is now a reality with Xslide, fulfilling the objective of creating a brand new component for wiegand.waterrides.

The firm has now built this aspect to be visually appealing and draw prospective riders’ attention from above, such as down from the stair tower. When placed in a new slide installation, slide passengers will ride directly through the crossing, before rotating 270 degrees and crossing their path once again.

Always safety first

Described by wiegand.waterrides as a “completely new experience – visually and during the ride”, the manufacturer has ensured safety was a key consideration of the attraction’s design.

Guests can board either two or three-person boats, and are signalled when to depart by entry lock and traffic lights. Should operators want to utilise more than one crossing on a single slide, this is achievable with the sophisticated programming of a conveyor belt, which transports riders precisely timed at the start of the water slide. An uphill track combined with water pressure and various sensors will then control the second crossing.

The track would be separated into block sections, similar to that found on modern roller coasters, to ensure that each section holds only one boat at any time.

In addition, wiegand.waterrides’ other technologies can be combined with Xslide, including elaborate GRP patterns, themed elements, Wie-Spray water surprises and the creative Wie-Glow black light technique.
