Wynn resumes construction on new Al Marjan Island integrated resort

Hotel and casino operator Wynn Resorts has resumed construction on its new integrated resort (IR) in Ras Al Khaimah.

Wynn Resorts' IR on Al Marjan Island, an estimated $2 billion project, will house the UAE's first casino and was announced in January 2022.

The new destination, named Wynn Al Marjan Island, will be the first IR in the MENA region by Wynn Resorts.

As fighting in the Middle East continues, Wynn has now provided an update on the resort's development, revealing that work has resumed following a short pause.

The company said it continues to be "in regular communication" with the US and UAE governments "so that we can make informed decisions".

"The company believes the broad defense posture of the UAE has worked extremely well, and we have confidence in the UAE's ability to keep its population safe," it added.

"We note that for broad segments of the local population, business continues to follow normal patterns."

UAE's first casino resort

Wynn Resorts said "steps have been taken to ensure the safety and security of all employees working on site".

Wynn's design and development team, which is overseeing the construction, architecture, and design of project, as well as the resort executive team leading the operational strategy and planning, have been able to continue work "in a consistent manner".

"Wynn employees have been offered the opportunity to work from abroad, if their home embassy recommends they do so," the company said.

"We will continue to closely monitor the situation; any additional impacts on the project will be assessed in due course."

When it's completed, Wynn Al Marjan Island will include a casino, more than 1,000 hotel rooms, a shopping mall, a spa, more than 10 restaurants and lounges, a gaming area, and entertainment facilities.

Wynn expects the new integrated resort to open in spring 2027.
