Zoo Advisors changes name to reflect expanded reach

Canopy Strategic Partners, a full-service planning and consulting firm serving zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, conservation organizations, and other public green spaces, has announced a rebrand.

By changing its name from Zoo Advisors, and following a decade of working with more than 150 zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, and other conservation institutions around the world, the company will now be able to expand its reach and expertise, bolstering its goal to help mission-driven organisations create a better future for our planet.

Meeting the needs of clients

“We’re making this change to enable us to better meet the needs of all our clients by broadening our horizons, and expanding to serve more communities in the animal, living collection, conservation and nature spaces. Through this work, we will bring even more expansive thinking to all our clients,” says Zach Winfield, vice president.

As it embarks on this new chapter, Canopy will keep its existing core team of experts and will continue to provide key services in planning, leadership, and economics. At the same time, the firm will be working to build and expand its network of experts and the services it provides. Following the rebrand, the company will be empowered to bring broader and more diverse perspectives to its work.

Lori Perkins, vice president, explains the meaning behind the new name:

“A canopy is a diverse, organic network that supports the growth and development of other ecospheres. This name illustrates our passion for helping organizations foster powerful connections within their community, building networks of experts, elevating leaders, and creating strong roots for the long-term growth of our partners.”

An exciting new chapter

David Walsh, the president of Canopy, adds:

“We’re excited about what’s next as we expand our work championing leaders, making change happen, and building communities. We look forward to continuing to engage with our clients and partners to grow their organizations and strengthen their impact.”

“The Canopy name reflects what David and his team of consultants have always been doing,” says Dario F. Lareu, CEO – director general, Fundación Temaikèn. “In their work with Fundación Temaikèn, they have helped us learn, develop a network and build capacity that will be translated in the accomplishment of our goals we have together for making a difference in conservation and leveraging our mission of Protect Nature Together.”

Canopy is also supporting the first-ever Blooloop 50 Zoo & Aquarium Influencer List, celebrating the creativity and innovation of key individuals within the sector. Nominations are open now and close on 18 September 2022, with the list set to be revealed later this year.
