ART Engineering, an amusement ride manufacturer that develops roller coasters, dark rides, carousels, water rides and more, has expanded its successful Wild Swing range, launched in 2022, with the addition of the new Wild Swing XL.

This new ride can already be found at two parks in Europe: Stormvåg at Sweden's Liseberg and Seesaw Swing at Bellewaerde in Belgium.

The Wild Swing was first delivered to Austria's Fantasiana theme park in 2022, followed by Potts Park in Germany. Since its launch, ART Engineering has commissioned over 20 standard units across European and American theme parks. Now, with the Wild Swing XL, the company offers a higher-capacity version.

The Wild Swing XL is a direct evolution of the tried-and-tested concept.

At 14.5 metres, the XL variant is 2.5 metres taller than the standard version. Despite the increased dimensions, the ride remains accessible to a wide audience: the minimum passenger height is 95 cm, a moderate 5 cm increase over the base version (90 cm).

A notable feature of the XL version is its higher throughput capacity, capable of serving about 750 people per hour, compared to the standard version's design for around 500 people per hour.

Although the height has gone up, the ride isn't meant to deliver maximum intensity. Thanks to its geometric proportions, the swinging elements last longer, creating a smoother experience. Like the smaller version, the Wild Swing XL also does not feature inversions.

ART Engineering still uses a fully electric drive system with motors and has eliminated all hydraulic parts. The ride features foam-padded individual seats, each equipped with its own monitored safety bar.

The two new rides have been incorporated into their respective park settings, with each project featuring detailed, site-specific theming.

Stormvåg (Storm Wave) serves as a natural link between the children’s area, Kaninlandet, and Liseberg’s more intense thrill rides. Intended as a family-friendly attraction appealing to both young and older guests, it offers an exciting experience that lets the entire family ride together.

The ride's theming is inspired by the city harbour and Sweden’s west coast.

Meanwhile, at Bellewaerde, Seesaw Swing is part of the new Canada-themed area, where it lifts riders 14.5 meters into the air over the park's lake.

ART Engineering has also supplied Vild Swing, one of the new rides that visitors can enjoy at Paultons Park's new Vikings-themed land, Valgard.
