Aardman partners with Locked In A Room to expand Wallace & Gromit escape room experience

Aardman Wallace & Gromit-themed escape rooms

Aardman, the award-winning UK studio, has collaborated with Locked In A Room, a leading provider of immersive entertainment experiences, to bring the Wallace & Gromit-themed escape rooms adventure A Grand Way Out to Milton Keynes, UK.

Locked In A Room plans to expand the experience to its other UK venues and explore third-party options for the attraction.

Building on success in Bristol

The one-hour experience includes a custom themed waiting room where visitors can immerse themselves in the Wallace and Gromit world. They then embark on an adventure to help Wallace remember the code for his workshop.

Visitors are tasked with finding A Grand Way Out in time for Wallace to unveil his newest invention at the West Wallaby Street science festival. Teams must collaborate to solve puzzles and help spark Wallace’s memory, set in a variety of beloved Wallace & Gromit moments.

Oliver Pfaff, Locked In A Room director, comments: “Locked In A Room Milton Keynes: A Grand Way Out gives the unique opportunity for teams to play as a solo team of 2-5 players or head-to-head against other identical rooms for up to 15 players in a “first to escape wins” challenge.

“This is the perfect competitive day out for work colleagues, friends and families, and the experience has proved hugely popular since its launch in Bristol in 2023, with weekend dates booked up for many months in advance. Suitable for any age, group size or weather, we are over the moon to launch this cheese-fuelled escape room in Milton Keynes.”

Molly Van Den Brink, attractions and live experiences manager, Aardman, says: “A Grand Way Out has proved hugely popular in Aardman’s hometown of Bristol, so we are thrilled that the Locked In A Room team are now starting to roll the experience out across their other locations too.

“It’s a wonderful way for fans to truly immerse themselves in the Wallace & Gromit world and we are excited that this is now accessible across another region of the UK.”

Aardman’s attractions and live experiences team collaborates with partners worldwide to create family-friendly, immersive events. It draws from the studio’s award-winning characters and creative talent to develop unique storylines and interactive experiences.

Earlier this month, Aardman announced a partnership with the British Council to deliver the Animate! with Aardman learning programme at 10 international learning centres.
