Hybe’s ‘The City’ project will offer entertainment, events, an exhibition and exclusive products.

Hybe, the South Korean music company behind K-pop stars BTS, is transforming Busan into a theme park for fans ahead of the band’s ‘Yet to Come’ concert in the city on 15 October.

From 5 October, Hybe’s ‘The City’ project will turn Busan into an immersive destination with entertainment, events, an exhibition and exclusive merchandise, the Korea Herald reports.

Hybe previously held ‘The City’ in Las Vegas in April. The upcoming experience will kick off at Haeundae LCT The Sharp with an exhibition that explores BTS’ nine-year career.

In addition, exclusive BTS-themed products will be available at Lotte Department Store from 7 October. Merchandise on offer will include apparel, accessories and props.

Beginning on 14 October, Lotte World Adventure in Busan will be lit up in BTS’ signature purple as the band’s music plays. The theme park will also serve purple F&B and run a fireworks show every night.

BTS-themed experiences and events

Five hotels in the city will provide BTS-inspired photo zones, souvenirs and menus. These are Paradise Hotel Busan, Grand Josun Busan, Park Hyatt Busan, Lotte Hotel Busan and Fairfield by Marriott Busan Songdo Beach.

BTS musician and art enthusiast RM (Kim Namjoon) has been nominated for the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List 2022, which recognises and celebrates the work and influence of notable individuals within the sector.

Charles Read, blooloop MD, said Namjoon “is a great example of an influencer in the truest sense of the word: ‘a person who affects or changes the way other people behave’”.

RM has donated more than $70,000 to fund the restoration of a traditional Korean bridal gown held by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

He also provided comment on some of the artworks for an audio guide for LACMA’s exhibition of modern Korean art.
