Leading creator of compelling guest experiences, Zeitgeist Design + Production, has been tasked with designing guest experiences for two of the BBC’s most popular brands.

The BBC Earth and Top Gear attractions in Wenchang, China, will be part of a massive new resort currently under construction by Shandong-based real estate and new energy developer, Luneng Group.

When completed, the 46-square-kilometre development will include five landscape areas, three world-class theme parks, 11 museums, and 26 (mostly waterfront) hotels. So far, 12 well-known domestic and foreign brands have signed strategic cooperation agreements with Luneng.

Following the completion of a ‘blue sky’ package for BBC Earth back in August, Zeitgeist has been given the green light to proceed to full concept phases for the two attractions.

Speaking of the BBC Earth brand, Zeitgeist President and Chief Creative Officer, Ryan Harmon, said the company  felt a tremendous responsibility to create ‘an entertaining yet inspiring guest experience that truly ponders our future as one people and one planet’.

“And, with Top Gear, of course, our goal is to combine the beloved show’s distinct brand with cutting edge automotive experiences for the entire family, ” he added.

Top Gear, currently shown in 212 territories, is the world’s most widely watched factual television programme. BBC Earth is BBC Worldwide’s umbrella brand for its natural history and science content, including that of the BBC’s Natural History Unit — the largest wildlife documentary production house in the world.

“We selected Zeitgeist because of their passion for what they do, their team’s experience and the way they were able to take our stories and develop them in unique and exciting ways, ” reported Stephen Davies, Director of Live Events, BBC Worldwide.

Zeitgeist is continuing to expand its presence in Asia, with several design projects on the go including a major new theme park on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and the Pirate Bay Caribbean-themed family entertainment centre in Shanghai, scheduled to open later this year.
