Innovative Leisure, a leading supplier of adventure attractions, together with Ropes Courses Inc, is developing the first twin parallel zip rail experience in Europe in partnership with Universe Science Park, Denmark.

The park's expansion plan positions its renowned Sky Trail high ropes course as one of the most innovative aerial adventure experiences on the continent.

Strategic attraction design

Sky Trail first opened to visitors in 2017. As its second significant expansion, this project reflects a long-term strategy and forward-thinking design.

Jonas Luttermann, COO of Universe Science Park, says: "Even back then, we designed the foundations with future growth in mind and it's incredible to see that vision pay off once again."

From its inception, the attraction's aim was to create a bigger, more exciting, and more dynamic experience for visitors.

"Universe asked me to visit in May 2025 to talk about how the course could be expanded to add a new level of experience," says Phil Pickergill, Innovative Leisure’s managing director.

"… The brief was to add something more exciting, something bigger. Zipping was already a very popular aspect, so we focused on much more of that."

"The outcome is the first of its type in Europe," he adds. "... The final attraction is a credit to all involved."

After launching from the 12-metre-high third level of the Sky Trail structure, visitors then return to the second level in a dynamic multi-level experience that offers both thrill and visual impact.

"It’s been a fantastic collaboration," says Luttermann, "... the expertise, dedication, and teamwork made all the difference."

The Sky Trail safety system avoids bottlenecks by allowing overtaking. As adults and children of 1 metre tall and over can enjoy the attraction together, this elevates the experience while increasing throughput.

The continuous belay system ensures participants are securely connected at all times, providing a safe experience that builds confidence.

As a result, Sky Trail is one of the most family-friendly high ropes experiences on the market, making it a perfect fit for Universe Science Park’s audience.

In addition to the exciting visitor experience, the Sky Trail system offers operational benefits including low maintenance requirements, ease of daily operation, high throughput, capacity for a broad range of ages and abilities, and an industry-leading safety system.

Visitors on the new Sky Tour experience can now enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding landscape, which stretch towards the newly launched Center Parcs Nordborg Resort.

Earlier this year, Innovative Leisure announced that Battle Bar, a dynamic new competitive attraction from Spectrum Sports International, is now available for the European market.
