Electrosonic Provides AV Integration for Houses of Parliament Education Centre

News

Leading AV specialist, Electrosonic has provided AV integration for the new Discovery Space at the Houses of Parliament Education Centre.

Located near the Palace of Westminster, London, the centre has been created to connect young people with democratic debate and the workings of parliament.

The experience uses 360 degree projection technology to give students the feeling that they are right at the heart of government and part of political history.

“The students are always transfixed during the Story of Parliament film and feel like they are genuinely in either the House of Commons or the House of Lords during the virtual Chamber experiences, ” reported Phil Johnson, Centre Manager.

Electrosonic worked with Centrescreen for the visual content, which recreates key historical moments associated with both chambers including angry protests by the suffragettes and the moment in 1739 when the Duchess of Queensbury tried to gain access to the House of Lords.

“The Discovery Space is an outstanding visual experience that is the show piece of our new Education Centre, ” said Dr. Emma-Jane Watchorn, Head of Education at the Houses of Parliament. “We’re passionate about engaging young people with democracy, and the Immersive Space enables us to do that in a unique and engaging way.”

The new facility is expected to more than double student visitor numbers in 2016 from 45, 000 to 100, 000.

The Discovery Space is connected to the Electrosonic ESCAN remote monitoring service to support continuous operational reliability and ensure a swift response when needed.
