International Museum Construction Congress announces IMCC InFocus: Basque Country 2026

News
IMCC InFocus Basque Country 2026

The International Museum Construction Congress (IMCC), an event that brings together museum and architecture professionals to explore sustainability, planning, project management, construction, renovation and expansion of museums, has announced a new In-Focus Spring programme.

The first IMCC InFocus event will take place from 10 to 12 May 2026 in the Basque Country, Spain.

The three-day schedule will take place at locations in both Bilbao and San Sebastián, and will feature networking opportunities, speakers and an opening reception.

IMCC InFocus events will be limited to 100 seats and will concentrate on the immediate area of the congress location. These events will include a reduced number of sessions and encourage visits to museums and cultural institutions, and a behind-the-scenes tour.

Early-bird registration for IMCC InFocus: Basque Country 2026 will open in November.

Upcoming: IMCC Copenhagen 2025

The IMCC Conference has taken place in locations such as Amsterdam, Hong Kong, UAE, and Edinburgh. In 2025, it held its first event in Tokyo. Its second event of the year will be in Copenhagen, from 1 to 4 November.

Registration for this event is now open.

Due to capacity requirements and to ensure delegates have a positive networking experience, tickets are limited to 250 people. During event registration, attendees can also reserve spaces for a number of pre-congress field trips that are scheduled for 1 November.

IMCC Copenhagen 2025 will explore the theme of Storytelling in Museum Design.

To produce a unique and cohesive museum experience, it is key that architects, museum professionals, and exhibition designers work together from the outset of the project. By engaging in teamwork early, these three contributors can ensure that narrative informs the design process in order to effectively combine architecture, exhibition design, and visitor experience.

The November event will include 16 sessions, exclusive access to some of the best cultural institutions in Copenhagen, an architecture cruise, a tour, session and reception at BIG’s Copenhagen Studio, and seven hours of dedicated networking opportunities.
