Djurs Sommerland in Denmark is set to open Northern Europe's first Intamin Hot Racer, named Midgårdsormen, in 2027.

Located in the expanded Vikingeland area, Midgårdsormen will be the park's 10th roller coaster, and its first to offer inversions.

Midgårdsormen is a custom-designed Hot Racer, developed with Djurs Sommerland and Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides.

It reaches speeds of up to 75 km/h across 603 metres of track, also providing two launches, three inversions, and moments of weightlessness.

“This is the first time our guests will be turned upside down on a roller coaster here," said Djurs Sommerland CEO Henrik B. Nielsen.

"It’s a milestone and at the same time a significant evolution of our coaster lineup, as we introduce an entirely new ride type."

Per a press release, the Intamin Hot Racer features single-row vehicles running on a single rail, which enables highly dynamic manoeuvres.

“You experience a world that, for brief moments, feels out of balance – and that is exactly what makes the ride intense, fun, and different,” said Nielsen.

Djurs Sommerland's 10th coaster

At Djurs Sommerland, Midgårdsormen has been developed as a family thrill coaster with a minimum height requirement of 120cm.

The concept behind Midgårdsormen was created in collaboration Leisure Expert Group, a leading experience design company and a partner of Djurs Summerland for more than 10 years.

Midgårdsormen is inspired by Jörmungandr, a sea serpent in Norse mythology. The theme is reflected in the ride experience, which boasts sudden bursts of speed, unexpected movements and changing directions.
